Name: Wolfpack Tower
Number: 6075
Theme: Castle
Year: 1992
Pieces: 232
Figures: 4
Links: brickset.com/search.aspx?Set=6075-1
Price: $34.50 - $46.03
Review:
Please note that the price above is only the average price of all the sets currently in inventory in Bricklink for the past year. I think this set was worth about $20 during the time of its release. I myself got it for $17 on ebay which I think was a good deal. So if you can find it for cheaper than $20 then you should get it. =)
Story: "The Dragon masters have arrived! Led by Majisto the Wizard and his glow in the dark wand, they control the fierce flying dragons. Can the powerful Black Knights and the cunning Wolfpack stop their reign? Only you decide the outcome of this medieval adventure."
Background: The LEGO company only did a short release of this genre. I think the main reason for this is because of the growing popularity of the Black knights during the time that rivaled the wolf people, and the advent of the Dragon knights. The wolf people never got a chance to become popular. =/
Now to the actual review:
This set consists mainly of three colors, grey 1x2s and so forth and their black counterparts. There are also some red plates that serve as the roof for the tower.
The set was a breeze to built, espically easier compared to the Viking Fenris Wolf. The set took me about two hours to built mainly because I had to hand clean everything with isopropyl alcohol, so if your not as paranoid about germs then it should take about an hour at the max.
What I liked:
1. The tower itself is a beauty to look at. The whole set was planned out very well and designed to be aesthetically pleasing. That is the main reason as to why I got this set.
2. A lot of playability with this set. Its a tower built on top of water!
What I didn't like:
1. I had some trouble building the base of the tower in which consisted hinges that allowed for the two mountain plates to move. It was very difficult to piece together that part, but eventually I managed to get it in with a little bit of force.
2. For a medium castle set, the weapons array was not very impressive. There was only 1 sword, axe, spear, and crossbow. A great variety but I just thought it lacked some more of these weapons. It is a tower after all! Speaking of which there was only one shield in the entire set!
3. It is difficult not the mention the randomness of this set and where it fits in the castle genre.
Overall this is a great set if you can secure it for a bargain price. Its a piece of history!
If you have any questions regarding this set please feel free to ask! =D
