This is one of the smallest sets in the whole Vikings theme (exclusive to Europe) and from what I have seen, it should be considered as a "minifigure set". Also, it has nice collection of some rare things that are nice addition of growing LEGO collection.

Parts: First off, I just want to say that I only bought this set for parts, period. It was bit of shock when I realised the amount of bricks this set included. Small "T-pipe" and the black droid arms are very handy in small greebling which is pretty important these days.
But set also dissappointed me. The wolf contains some BIONICLE parts which as matter as fact don't look promising. The part which you can see in wolf's back has very small use. The head is even worse. That is one head, no jaw or anything like that. Playability is really weak.
One thing keeps rising my rage. What is purpose of that large BIONICLE shielf? It's bigger than the fig!

Minifigure: Whole figure is really nice. Detailed torse give that extra "bling". Face is rather detailed if you compair it to the old ones. Also, the black armor looks very much like the age old ones. That is just perfect for builders like me who have some of those armors. (Yes, the new axe part is marvellous but I am too tired to talk about it tonight. Ask tomorrow)

Playability: For kids, this is great set to play with. I should warn you tho, making and un-making the wolf takes a LONG time. If it took me, veteran LEGO builder half an hour, think about poor kid who gets this as a first LEGO set..

Overall score: 6/10 (Mainly because the parts and good minifigure. The wolf is rather annoying to make)

In ancient times, shields were supposed to be big. I think it was either in Sparta or Greece where the wounded were carried off the field of battle on their shield... like a stretcher. But I guess it would be different for vikings.

I wonder if this set is coming to TRU with the other Viking sets? I'd like to see some more pics of it.

This is the one set I plan to get, just so I can have a figure mostly. I really want the axes, I guess.

I haven't paid the vikings much attention: Can you please explain the axe to me? It is two pieces somehow? Or what?

I don't understand the wolf taking so long to assemble: Sure, it looks technic-y but I don't understand how it could take a full half hour. That seems exorbitant.

Jail, that thing is nasty thing to make. The "eyes" are made by 2 brick long technic axle, and that isn't easy to put in. Also, the "back" slopey thingy is very slippery which makes it hard to connect with the main "body".

The axe is made by two pieces, the real axe part and the wooden stick, which you can see from this picture . You can put the axe parts together to make a "battleaxe" kind of weapon. (That picture lies a bit. The axe parts "connecting" part is not a loop, it's same kind as there is in standard 1x1 plate with vertical clip)

I was going to get a small Viking set in England. But I got a board game instead. I don't like how the armour is done.

The armour? That is classic! Real 90's armour! That thing is marvellous!

I was talking about that new color on the axe. Wich I think in other sets are on the armour. But I could be wrong about it being on the armour. The new KK2 Shadow Knights have that color also.

I was tempted to buy this off Tom along with the smaller of the two boat sets. It ended up I didn't, but at the end he gave me a copy of this set. Completely surprised me. He's an awesome guy, like most of them.

The set is pretty cool. I really like the viking figure, and the axe. The axe head is reversable so you can take a second head and put it on the other side to create a symmetrical double-headed axe.

The wolf is both good and bad. It was a fun build. I'm not sold on the legs, but I like the pieces they used. The wolf head is a pretty useless piece, but looks great. I see no possible way it was a 30 minute build: It's simple technic; 5 minutes for the set at the most.

This set is a pretty cool starter. It really does make me want to get more viking sets.

I've been waiting for the viking sets since i dont know when. i found a huge description of them all with pics in german off of a link from eurobricks. i stayed up till about 1;30 one night arguing with dictionary.com and babel fish to translate the text. although i havent gotten any of the sets yet, i will as soon as they are released and/or i get some money. looks like a great set, great theme.

The comments from the above reviewers are consistant with mine.

Currently the vikings are exclusive to TRU and Amazon in the US. If you want a sample, buy this set. You will not be greatly disappointed.
