Very nice start, good luck getting people to join. Find some ways to advertize. Also, start some threads for people to reply to. New members aren't inclined to create threads.

Okay, not to be negative or anything but I finally have to ask the question that has bugged me about these forums for so long:
Ultimately, what is the point of the board? "To discuss LEGO" (Or the other topics I noticed) really doesn't answer it, because there are so many other forums already established about the same stuff. So what does it have that other places don't? What's the point?
Just curious, -John "J1A3L5" Langrish.

So what does it have that other places don't? What's the point? The fact that you are in charge (in other words, recognition).

Okay, cool. I hope it turns out to be a great site. There's tons of great sites out there for LEGO, and the community can always do with another. So what does it have that other places don't? What's the point? The fact that you are in charge (in other words, recognition). Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. A superiority thing... -John "J1A3L5" Langrish.

The best way to get people to your forum is not through ecstatic solicitation. If I want that I can just cross the border and go to Mexico.

Generally if you want to start a very successful LEGO forum that starts very quickly:
1 - Become very well-known and highly respected in the general LEGO community. 2 - Show that you're a mature, experienced, responsible, and knowledgable person who is likely to create an awesome forum, and possibly have others help out. 3 - Only make a forum if it is needed. For example, if there's already 5 general LEGO forums, there's no need for another. But if there's a gap somewhere, and you're into that theme, go for it. If the site/forum doesn't introduce anything new to the community, it's really pointless. 4 - Properly advertise the forum, but through non-spamming ways.
If done correctly, you should have an instant-success forum. If done incorrectly you will have a miserable, generic board that gets approximately 10 members, 7 of which were begged to join, that is forgotten about after just a few days.
And there you have it, Jail's 4-step guide to creating an awesome brand-new forum.
-John "J1A3L5" Langrish.
