Hey all, It has taken me along time to finish this MOC (almost as long as it takes Jail to ) but it is finally done. I give you the B.D.D. Daunen.

This is your first SNOTty MOC, eh?
Well, the model itself is bit of.. lacking. I see no interesting features or any 'major points' in it. Well, it is rather unique, I must say but it is bit.. a space-faring box.
You could have make the model bit more detailed and colored, the black is very annoying color to work with. Dashes of blue might have worked better.
And plain plates are pretty bad choice. I would have rather seen some bricks and greebles on top of them.

You are right about the black color. Most of the details on Daunen can't be seen. I have to admit, my monitor is quite old. It can worse the problem.
But I refuse to accept this. Black is the best color and there has to be a way to photograph it like other colors, without losing the details.

I know there were some really bad pictures. But I also thought I took a few good one which showed most of the detail. I guess I was wrong. Ah well, "Its a learning experience".

Details are there but not well implemented. The underside is better than the top.
EDIT: Picture 05 is what I'm talking about. That view looks nice.

The problem was my monitor. I took brightness and contrast up and I still didn't see the details. Now I'm looking them with fairly new TFT-monitor and the pictures are ok. My mistake.
I made some tests with the black tower in my castle project. At least with my camera using the flash was really bad for black surfaces. On the other hand without the flash the pictures get grainy and easily out of focus. Lots of general light helps of course, but I found out (as TheQ and Jail said in the "Digital Camera"-thread) the self-timer mode and tripod are very useful in this case.

It looks cool but the camera never seems to be kind to the color black. It just absorbs all that light, making it more difficult to make out the little details. Good SNOTwork.
