I know that most of the people on this forum are space theme fans. Well, I recently made a caboose for my trains in the Ice Planet color scheme(blue and white), complete with the Ice Planet emblem. I even decked it out with a cozy interior. Check it out here: www.mocpages.com/moc.php/15289

Well if you really wanted to make it look Ice Planet-ish, you should have made it a bit more white and made the windows trans-orange, heh. 'Tis pretty good though.

This is a nice caboose with a neat inside. But you fell short in your attempt to make it in Ice Planet colors. Thrawn has already explained what needs to be done in order to fix that. But again, it is a nice caboose.

Those are really good ideas. To be honest, I never really set out to make an Ice Planet caboose, so I never had those ideas in mind. I just wanted a caboose, but I couldn't make it in red since I used most of my narrow red pieces in my school. So I went with my favorite color and added the white stripe and Ice Planet decorated tile to avoid making it a plain Jane.
This would be displayed on the NMRA layout, so I don't want to make it look too "spacey." But I don't see why they should care either. I mean, even Lionel's come out with lots of "novelty" cars.
So here's my new plan: I'll hit bricklink up sometime soon to get a bunch of trans orange 1X2 bricks, and I'll convert the grey roof to completely white, and use white doors instead of yellow. I think I'd rather leave the grooved 1x2 tile on the roof black rather than trans orange, but I don't really know yet. Maybe I'll use trans orange for the piping on top? Substitute the railroad workers with Ice Planet minifigs? Anyone think I should do it?

Gah, nevermind that...for awhile anyway. I just counted out how many of those pieces I'd need, around 40 of them. They aren't really that expensive, but when most of the cheapest sellers have only 5, the shipping costs get kind of heavy. And then there's that minimum purchase catch. Rest assured, I will do it, hopefully this summer. In the past two months I've spent around 200 bucks on Lego, so I should probably go cold turkey for awhile.

Substitute the railroad workers with Ice Planet minifigs? Anyone think I should do it? Well that depends on what you want. If you do want a "Ice Planet" Caboose (which would be neat to see), then yes. But if you do not want to make it look too "spacey, then no, of course not. It really depends on what works best for your display. Btw, I am adding my review to MOC Pages.

Thanks for the review, Jamit. I probably won't have the second iteration done by the time the NMRA show comes around. But I still want to convert it to a more Ice Planet looking scheme. I'll probably even change the interior to give it more of a control room feel. Doing this even got me to thinking, why not a space themed train? Maybe give every Lego space subtheme their very own railcar with a classic space themed engine leading the way. Right now I've been working on a couple other creations. When the one hits 88 mph, your gonna see some serious....well, you know the rest. lol I'll post the stuff when it's all said and done.

Or better yet, make a Train with all LEGO themes being used. That would be cool.
