Check it out. I counted over 86 minifigs, covering a 2x2 baseplate area. It's kind of hard to see, but there's a stone blockade that spans 2 baseplates for the federals to hide behind. It curves to the left to give the impression that this is the Union flank, and the rebels are trying to breach it. Lots of action going on here and a nice variety of regiments like the 54th Massachusetts and Zouaves. I'm going to be using it in Pennlug's train layout module in this summer's big NMRA show where, so far, 13 clubs will be participating in making a super layout. Enjoy.

You're right. Problem is that I didn't really think about that while setting them up. Thanks for pointing that out though, because I don't want to have the battlefield at the NMRA with a bunch of figs who died unarmed.

Not bad. Though it does seem crowed. I guess that's hard to avoid when you have that many minifigs.

I know it seems crowded, but civil war battlefields got pretty packed. Plus I needed to make it big enough to look like a battlefield, yet small enough to incorporate in PennLUG's train layout. And I wanted to use all my soldiers. lol

I am not so into this whole "Western" theme, partly since I am european and I don't really know much about the USA's Civil War. But still, I can say something about the creation.
If you take out the 'figs, you will only leave rather basic creation. I don't really like the whole "basicness" of the creation, I would much rather seen some more brick building than just a small wall. Perhaps small gate somewhere and much larger wall? (If the enemy is so near, wall that small wouldn't help much.)
Still, minifigs seem to be the biggest deal of this creation and I see why. Western themes only lived couple of years so having army that big is a rather big "woah" effect. Well, for the LEGO builder, since the normal crowd might not notice it.
If you are planning to show this off at the meeting, give some eye-candy for non-LEGO people too.

(If the enemy is so near, wall that small wouldn't help much.) -Q I understand where your coming from, but the stone wall's purpose is merely to serve as scenery, and as you said before, the main subject I was shooting for was the soldiers themselves. I would've liked to make it bigger and add a historic building to the display. However, there's only a very limited amount of space available for my group's layout at the NMRA train show. My school MOC already takes up a big chunk of room, and I wouldn't want to take up more space from my fellow members. Therefore, I can't go as big as I would've liked. But I really want to put it in our part of the layout because each group is expected to have some MOCs related to their native area, and nothing screams Pennsylvania like a good old Civil War battlefield...oh yeah, and maybe Independence Hall too.
