I'm very glad you decided to make a gun that's not so warish (I know that's not a word) as your other ones. And you did a great job on it. Were did you get the golden bricks from? I think I remember you saying something about the golden bricks in the shout box...

I think those are actual bullets or something
Golden bricks came with the LEGO Anniversary tubs or online ordering.
I like this moc. Detailed.

;D Thanks. I don't have any gold bricks, those are fired, empty, completely safe .44 Magnum casings. The casing of a cartridge is just the piece of brass that holds together the propellent and bullet. When a gun fires, the then-empty casing is ejected to the right through, uh, the ejection port. Those empty casings are what I used for display here.
By the way, what do you think of the photos showing the gun resting on reference material? Do you think I should have shots like those for my future MOCs as well? I like them, but what's important is whether they are helpful or not.

I am pleased to see that you don't make "rainbow MOCs" anymore. This realistic colorscape works much better with these kind of weapons. But there are couple of things that really catch my eye. - Using only "brick-on-brick"-technique. This is your main weakness in LEGO building. I would suggest reading couple of articles about SNOT and then starting using it. Your current creation have this "old" feel in it, same as the large models that TLG master builders make. SNOT would allow you to make a lot more detailed creations with less weight and stress upon bricks.
- Lack of texture. Not as large "problem" as the higher one but still, this is something you should think. In real world, objects tend to have own textures or surfaces (which ever term you prefer, I just like the word texture). For example, the real Strayer-Voight Infinity isn't exactly silk-smooth like a LEGO brick. It has own texture. I know some tips on making good textures (One exceptionally great way is using Grille bricks but making every other in opposite way. This makes a nice "cross-fade" effect) and I would be happy to help you out. Texture is one thing that has been bit "looked over" in the MOC culture.
And the reference picture? I really like it altought I would like to see only the "real gun" and the replic of it. Much like pictures seen in several IRON MECHA entries. -Q, "We have a wiki"

Thanks for the great feedback! I'm especially interested in the texture thing: I had wanted to make the slide of my gun textured like the one here: [see the back edge of the gun, just above the grips] www.modelguns.co.uk/images/1911umc10.jpgHowever, I completely forgot about grill bricks, all I could think of was to use 1x2 vent plates with SNOT, which would make the gun too wide. I think I'll try to get my hands on some of those grill parts, especially white and light grey ones. In terms of SNOT, my major plans with it are for making grips, a bit like these from my earlier, firing M1911A1. www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RSPMOC/folder1/imgp1883.jpgwww.brickshelf.com/gallery/RSPMOC/folder1/imgp1894.jpgHowever I'm interested to hear about other applications, right now the only other thing I can think of for it would be trigger guards. As for the pictures, I'm not great with photo editors, and what exactly do you mean? Are you suggesting the gun rest on just one, big picture, or something else? Thanks again for the feedback, and what is "We have a wiki"?
