I picked up a ARC a while ago and it remains one of my favorite sets. The set comes with many features like a cool wing opening mechanism and it can drop bomb. Although many say the wings are too flappy, my wings are fine. The only real problem is that the bombs get stuck and its real frustrating getting them un-stuck. I just leave the bombs out all together and I dont mind.
9/10 A must Buy if you have the money

the only problem i got with the arc-170 is the wings open up too slowly, and the clone pilots have those darn holes in them so you can put anyhead you want underneath (like the stormies)

you mean you cant put any head under it. Well, all that would be under it would be Jango Heads.

I got my Arc from BL this Tuesday, built it today, am looking at it right now as I'm leaving comments.
Like I said about the minifigs in the CSW review, these figs are no different, if not worser. Like I said, I am 100% satisfied with the torso decals, for they are printed with high precision. However, I'm not satisfied with the helmet decals, for they are not struck with precision. This batch of clone pilots was especially disappointing; I had one blatant (at least in my opinion, for I collect mint minifigs) misprint and several blurry areas on the helms. I've seen customs on clone helmets that are better than these helm decals.
The ship itself fell under expectations too. Yes, indeed the wings were flappy (they'll easily risk breaking if you drop the ship!). The wing opening mechanism is by no means smooth, and yes it does take quite a few turns of the knob to open up. These wings are not stable (they rotate) for they are connected to the main wing with pins instead of axles. Lastly, the "bombs" occacionaly get stuck.
Overall I give it a 7/10 for it's useful pieces and the fact that I got it for $28 from Bartering the Brick (30% off all MISB ROTS sets, how does he do it?)

i got in on tuesday. i give it a 9/10 also. the wings arent as flappy as they say, but they are a bit loose. the opening mechanism is a little slow, but its a cool effect. the bombs never get stuck for me, and i like how they put the entire astromech droid in the ship instead of just the head (i.e. obi wan's JSF) overall a really nice set, the best of the 4 ive gotten so far.

I should be getting very soon, since I live in the state where it's coming from. (hint: Nevada) Hopefully tomorrow, so I'll be posting a review.

ARC-170 Starfighter Review ____________________________________________
Construction:
Quite easy construction. Took me about 20-30 minutes to build. Not really any especially "difficult" parts of construction, but some of the ways things work may get confusing.
Minifigs:
The ARC comes with 4 minifigs, 3 clone pilots, and a red astromech droid. The pilots' torso decals are really great, seem to have no problems. But the helmet decals on the other hand, aren't the best quality. If they had really good quality they would've been great, but some look smudgy, scratched out, etc. Also sometimes faded. As for the astromech droid, the decals on that turned out really welll, I find no problems with it. 2 of the pilots also had scratches, but luckily, they were hardly noticable. Although there are 3 pilots, it only comes with two blasters.
ARC-170 Starfighter:
The ARC is a really good ship, and is built nicely. I haven't yet seen the movie, but from pictures I've seen, I'd say it's pretty accurate. The SNOT designs used on were cool too. The cockpits are nice, but the ones on top, when the windscreen is closed, it is difficult to see the pilots, from a face on view. The engines also turned out nicely. As for the cons, the wings open very slowly, but in an interesting way. I don't really have any trouble, but once, the bombs did get stuck. It's also a bit bigger than I expected, which is good.
Parts:
This sets has lots of good parts. Some which include the windscreens, engines, wings/base pieces, and cockpit pieces. Also quite a bit more. One good thing is that there aren't too many "off color" pieces. The main ones are the lime 2x1 brick (but not too noticable), and some interior parts (often goldish yellow), but none are really easily viewable.
Durablity:
Definitely not the best durability, but better than some sets I got in the past. If dropped, parts of the wings will break. Also, if you set the ship down while the wings are open without a stand, the bottom wings will likely break, which is why I made a stand for mine. So it's a durable set, as long as you're not pretending it's a podracer.

Well, I got it on the Costco sale...
...and man am I disappointed in the set. The dark red pieces rock, I can always use more white, but the set itself is horrible. The nose portion is cool, and the thoughts behind the features are cool, but it just doesn't cut it. The wing mechanism pries the wings to the sides before opening them it seems. It was a boring build. I could go on and on...
It took me a long time to build. Mainly because I kept getting bored and going to do something else. I mean, that is a very rare occurence when I'm building a brand new LEGO set, if it's one I don't already have. The wing portions were just painful to build...
On the plus side, the fronts of the engines are a cool idea. Very tempting to steal if I ever made a ship with that colour scheme. Also, they managed to fit 3 identical trooper figures into a set, which is always good. The EpIII clones are cool too, now that I mention it. As is dark red. I also like the fact there were no stickers.
I am very disappointed. I thought this was the most credible set of the EpIII lineup so far...
