For all of you who thought Megabloks was fake Lego, I have found the king of fakes. These guys go so far as to rip the original Lego product designs off. I bought some off of ebay recently and have now added a page to my MOCpages where I compare an actual Lego set with a fraud. I also show some of the company's original sets. Check it out. By the way, they are a lot of pictures, so it make take some time to load the page depending on what your internet connection is. www.mocpages.com/moc.php/18382

Hi -
These fake "shifty" brand sets have been around for quite a while, along with a whole host of other similar products.
The writeup and examples are superb. The wheels do indeed seem to be one of the main differences between sets; I've never really looked into it in detail. If it's not LEGO, it's not for me!
That said...I do have one complaint. That involves all the non-MOC content on MOCpages. This is definitely one of the more worthwhile non-MOC pages on the site, but it still somehow rubs me the wrong way that it isn't actually showing a model...perhaps keeping it to Brickshelf, or on another website would be more appropriate?
Another reason to exclusively use LEGO. Leg godt! -John.

They are sucking worlds resources, stealing the desings and turning it to cheap s*** products and lot's of waste. Supporting this is very short-sighted imho.

Original LEGO sets look much cooler then fakes...but i think that due to igher and higher cost of LEGO products this fakes are havning a chance of succes. If you are not collecting them they are fine...but i thing original LEGO and LEGO MOCs rock:)
And my oppinion is...fakes should be baned!

ohhh interesting, I have also heard from a friend that someone came up with this idea of making fake legos by using the following number 0937 to trick people into buying this counterfeit product. If you look at it backwards that number spells out "LEGO". It turns out hewas really effective in tricking many people into buying this product and eventually this person got sued by the company.

To J1A3L5: I had never seen counterfeits until recently (although I've heard of them prior to obtaining them). I just thought it was a good idea to put a comparrison thing up on MOCpages. And although I know it's technically not a MOC, I will probably still leave it up on there. On brickshelf, I can't really offer the descriptions I would want to, and if I created my own website, I doubt anyone would go to look at it. Rest assured though, I won't put one of those pesky "duels" up on MOCpages. To xsane: I only did this purely out of my own curiosity and thought it would be helpful information to share with others. I wasn't expecting anything good (and none of the sets were). But for people who shop online (e-bay especially), fakes are everywhere and it's not always obvious at first. While there are some noticable differences in the box design, if one of these sets were to be sold without it a novice might easilly mistake them as an actual Lego set. To Steven329: It's good if you don't. The quality of the plastic is inferior to Lego's and probably even Megabloks'. To zeki: The fakes must have a greater chance of making it in today's world. I remember reading on Lego's own website about how they intercepted thousands of "enlighten" pirated sets making their way into Europe. Lego was given permission to destroy them all. To Jamit: You're welcome. I enjoyed writing about things like this. To kugerfangs: Never heard about that one yet...time to hit Lugnet.

Sorry , I didn't mean to critizise you for buying the sets from ebay. That was my general opinion about the fakes and the way China is optimizing it's profits these days.
It's good you brought that up and thank's for the well written article.
