Yeah, I am rather "natural" speaker if you can call it that. I speak Finnish and English (like Ertur knows ^^) very well, Swedish some and I know some Russian words too. Also, 1337-language is not very hard thing to read =P.

ok i'm good, i did my finnish and mandarin chinese for today You should have put that all in one reply. I don't like other Languages, I think French is evil. Why do we English Canadians need to learn two languages but not French Canadians?

Well, to make it worse, we Finns need to learn three languages: Finnish, English and Swedish. Some also take extra languages. If you think Swedish is bad, I thank the finnish veterans from keeping Russians not to taking over our country? My, that would be annoying =P

finland was owned by russia for a long time... If you are talking about the Winter War, I don't think that's entirely correct. The Russians gained 22,000 sq. miles of territory, after losing approximately one million troops. The Finns, on the other hand, lost "only" 25,000. This is largely due to the Finnish guerrilla tactics, and their choice of weaponry, sniping rifles and submachine guns. But you might have been talking about some other war or something, in which case never mind. Edit: Oh yeah, and I really hate learning other languages.

Winter War? Nah, that was a battle where we won . But yes, Finland was under Russian hand several years. Before that we were own by Sweden. If I remember correctly (I should, I am reading History ^^) Finland gained its independency when Russia fell and Soviet Union started. If you know a thing about WWI-II history you should know the deal. But from what I have heard, Nort Americans don't really know about European history? -Q

Thanks. Most Americans my age [myself included] don't know a lot about European history in the 20th century. However I had thought that Ertur might have been talking about the Winter War, which I learned about alongside WWII history, so I figured I'd post. Thanks again for clearing that up for me.

But from what I have heard, Nort Americans don't really know about European history? Hi, from what I understand most Americans don't really know a lot about non-US (and unbiased) history. I had a friend (Well, he just graduated) who used to live in the US. He's still a US citizen. He says that down there in History Class (Here we call it 'social studies' and it incorporates History, Geography, Law, etc., and doesn't branch off until grade 12,) it was entirely pro-American, and any questioning of the teaching was very limited. He said that here, while things are always tried to promote Canadian culture, we keep things open for discussion, and actually will admit how history actually happened. (I've heard many times the discussion about the war of 1812) Also, while in grade 11 socials most of the studies were focussed on Canadian issues (Excepting WWI and WWII,) other grades, especially 8 and 9 are mostly focussed on European History. -John "No man who is false can win in combat against the truth!"
