Hey guys wouldn't it be awesome if the Lego company decided to make a military set. They can have tanks along with chinook type helicopter and fighter jets! All of the pieces are there so why haven't they came up with that idea?! I think it will make a great set to add to the collection. What is your in take on this? Would you buy it if sets related to this genre came out?

In one word:
No.
It would not be cool. It would shake my faith in The LEGO Company even further, and undermine my interest in new sets even more.
Would I buy them? That depends. Not for the sets themselves, that's for sure. If there was some Megabloks-good reason to buy them, such as the return of old colours...I probably would.
I could go into detail about why LEGO shouldn't do it - But it's all been said before, and doesn't change much. Thankfully, I am fairly certain LEGO won't do them, so it's not a big issue to me.

I believe that that certain builder make custom sets which you can buy.
Also, LEGO has always been kids product and the family values are very important to them. I would really think twice before allowing LEGO destroying the image it has built for long time.

Q, and it's ironic now that more and more fans are sucked into building violent MOCs. This must be the advance of violence in the media and in games.
EF and Dinos are excellent examples of TLG turning towards the left to meet the interests of its consumers.
Good thread KF +8 bricks

Ok thanks for clearing that up with me, I didn't really consider about the prestige of the company when I posted this thread. I try to make some more insightful posts next time. Thanks again for replying.

You probably make the second highest quality (in all aspects) posts next to mine [/self flattering remark (not to be taken seriously)] Everyone's opinions are valued on LAML, don't be discouraged!

True enough, Dino Attack and now Exo-Force are pretty violent. ExoForce doesn't bother me much...but the Dino Attack does.
I assumed you were referring to a theme that contained real-life type tanks, aircraft, weapon emplacements, soldiers etc., mostly based on reality. Even with LEGO turning towards things like Dino Attack and ExoForce, I doubt they'd go that far. LEGO is still "kid friendly"...most parents who know a bit about the company understand that so long as their kid is in the age range, there's not much danger of them getting something inappropriate. Unlike video games, etc. I think that's important to LEGO, and I doubt they'd do anything they felt would lose them that status.

Erm, Dino Attack is only violent in America. Here in the Europe, they just "collect" the animals..

Erm, Kuger. If you want to see some "military" kind of sets, check out that new Batman line. In current version, there is a punch of weapons there.
But I believe that those are just "US exclusive". Like what happened to Dinos..

The classification between LEGO and "other brands" is huge. LEGO has not made any distinctly "military" lines, no matter what country. Yes, at one time they did try toy guns, and stuff, possibly before the Automatic Binding Brick concept came to light.
If it's distinctly military, it's not LEGO. It's important not to call it LEGO.
I've already made my point about Military sets, but LEGO is not to be confused with other brands. This confusion is one of LEGO's biggest problems: Many people don't care, thus the general public finds it hard to distinguish between brands.
