Hey all, I've decided to start this LEGO Trivia. I will ask a question and you must answer. Every time you answer right you get one point. First person to twenty wins. The prize will be a custom rank which I will create. Here we go: How did LEGO get the name "LEGO"?

LEGO-which started in Switzerland- roughly translated means play well. (is that what you meant, Jamit?)

Nope. I mean how did the Toy company that we now know and love (and hate ) get the name "LEGO".

Johnny Thunder, Miss Pippen Reed, Baron Von Baron, Dr. Kilroy, Sam Sinister, Harry Caine. I'm assuming the misc. skeletons, mummies, alligators, snakes, and bats don't count. Of course if you live in the UK, Johnny Thunder would be Sam Grant. Adventurers rocked. I have most of the original sets. -Jail. Edit: I believe Dr. Kilroy is incorrect - Charles Lightning sounds better. Hmmm, I think Dr. Kilroy was the "newer" version of the character. Meh, I'm doing this off the top of my head, not looking anything up. Anyone know for sure?

Then how about we ask something a little bit harder. Well it would be hard for me:
What happend in the late 1950s that resulted in LEGO's decision to discontinue all wooden toy production?

Ole Kirk's workshop burned down, causing them to restart and open to new ideas, in 1924. Then, the lack of a "system of play" was brought to his attention, bringing in the automatic binding brick. The tractor set was made, and reinforced the concept of "additional play value" through a toy that could be put together.
Are you a fellow owner of The World of LEGO Toys?
By the way, I don't recall any mention of a disconinuation of the wooden models in the late 1950's - The automatic binding brick came in in 1949.

Well they did discontinu the wooden toys in the late 50s. But by that time half the sales were the plastic toys... Look around the net, should not be hard.

Oh - We're supposed to look this stuff up? At that point it ceases to be a knowledge test, and is just an exercise in information retrieval. Anyway, I went to my Ultimate LEGO Book and according to it there was another fire in in the Wooden Toys Department in February 1960. If that is indeed the case, your question is flawed unless the "late 1950's" include 1960. -Jail.

If that is indeed the case, your question is flawed unless the "late 1950's" include 1960. I guess it was flawed. But you still got it: J1A3L5 - 3 dyip_90 - 1 What year did the Black Falcon minifigs first appear?

The year was 1984, 21 years ago. First sets were 6073 Knight's Castle and 6103 Knights . I believe you mean the original "unarmored" Black Falcon figure? -Q, "My father was a LEGO builder too =P"

Assuming we're sticking to minifigure scale heads, I'm fairly confident that was the Pirate line of 1989 that introduced printed heads. I could be wrong though.

Star Wars. Harry Potter. Winney-The-Pooh. Mickey Mouse. Maersk. Galidor. Bob the Builder. Dora The Explorer. Shell. McDonalds. Stena. Silja.
There's others too, such as Weebatix, and even Samsonite could possibly be considered a license. How detailed are you looking for? If I were to look it up I think I could come up with more...
-Jail.
Edit: Does NASA count?
Edit 2: Was Minitalia a licensed product or a offshoot of LEGO? I can't remember.
